As a Senior Manager, Scotiatrust, Learning & Talent Development, you will lead the development and management of a robust talent management program for Scotiatrust, ensuring we have a vibrant community of professionals - now and in the future. You will ensure we have the necessary roles to deliver on our value proposition, with proper measures of success and development paths, and that they are properly enabled to succeed in a supportive and inclusive environment. You will be responsible for all people-related programs within the trust company and play a key role in fostering Scotiatrust's reputation in the marketplace as a destination for developing and establish Trust professionals.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will :
- Lead the design and implementation of features connected to all roles that are involved in the delivery of Scotiatrust solutions by :
- Manage an inventory of all job descriptions and ensuring they remain valid and up-to-date with any industry and / or organizational developments;
- Establishing and maintaining experience and service standards - as well as key metrics - for staff that will inform hiring and performance management processes;
- Collaborating with HR and Total Rewards to manage the various compensation programs, including any annual review / reporting requirements; and
- designing and managing a Career Pathways program that will provide a roadmap for staff progressing into more advanced roles within the trust company.
- Support the Scotiatrust leadership team's efforts to drive strong employee engagement by :
- Leading the development of action planning in response to ScotiaPulse and other employee survey results;
- Liaising with the employee engagement working group to provide guidance and ensure strong two-way communication with leadership; and
- Driving awareness around diversity, equity & inclusion and leading the implementation of any initiatives designed to enhance Scotiatrust's performance against relevant KPIs.
- Develop and manage employee training programs by :
- Managing the relationship with Practice Excellence and ensuring that Scotiatrust staff and content is included in the delivery of broader training programs;
- Ensuring that new staff are well supported through a robust employee onboarding program that will accelerate the learning and acclimatization process;
- Designing and managing any new programs for developing either Trust Officers or Estate & Trust Consultants of the future, independently and in partnership with the Wealth Management Associate Program; and
- Facilitating the delivery of sessions related to use of systems and other tools in support of staff becoming more efficient and effective.
- Lead the delivery of ongoing professional development to staff by :
- Establishing and managing a regular schedule of learning sessions, which may be general in nature or tailored to specific roles;
- Soliciting feedback from staff on the topics they want to learn more about and identifying relevant speakers;
- Managing the relationships with various industry groups (e.g., STEP) and promoting opportunities for staff to participate in events that promote learning and development;
- Identifying and promoting additional learning opportunities offered by internal stakeholders, such as Advanced Planning or Insurance; and
- Providing support around understanding, tracking, and managing continuing education requirements
- Drive coordinated efforts around recruitment of new professionals by :
- Managing the relationship with the Talent Acquisition team and ensuring that Scotiatrust is properly leveraging programs and resources to support the acquisition of new talent;
- Developing new content and tactics to promote Scotiatrust in the marketplace and within the enterprise as an attractive employment destination;
- Establishing and managing connections to industry organizations that can promote opportunities and / or act as a feeder pool for new talent; and
- Identifying best practices related to recruitment and collaborating with Scotiatrust people leaders to implement them across the country.
- Support the implementation and management of best practices for various roles by :
- Managing the relationship with the Practice Management team and understanding the scope of their work and how it impacts Scotiatrust;
- Collaborating with leaders in the field around gaps and challenges we can address through practice management support;
- Providing any necessary support to colleagues who lead advisory groups whose mandate includes the identification of best practices;
- Facilitating the implementation of any Scotiatrust programs that support practice management improvements; and
- Identifying resources that highlight best practices in the industry (or in general) and proactively sharing them with the team.
- Provides strong team leadership to motivate and develop individual team performance by :
- Providing direction, coaching, and training as required
- Recruiting, developing and retaining high quality, high performing employees to achieve strategic objectives
- Ensuring the performance management process is in place, creating performance metrics geared to the business and ensuring the employee development is a priority of all employees on the team
- Direct day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank's risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank's risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
- Create an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML / ATF / sanctions and conduct risk.
