Summary

The Project Manager, Research Projects provides project management for research projects held by the Director, Faculty Associates and other researchers of the Food and Agriculture Institute. The incumbent engages with project partner organizations, contractors and service providers during the projects’ life cycle and ensures programs and projects are executed, completed and delivered within the specified timelines.

The position oversees the planning, procurement, operationalization, monitoring, and financial control to implement the appropriate workflow, procedures are in place for timely project success.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution. A PhD is preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience working as a food and agriculture researcher in a national setting.
• Experience managing development projects and programs, with a preference for working on projects funded by SSHRC, NSERC, and Genome Canada.
• Experience working with industry partners in the food and agriculture sector.
• Excellent writing skills and a strong record of peer-reviewed publications.
• Experience with budgeting processes and frameworks.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, problem solving, and communication skills.
• Good knowledge of monitoring and evaluation methods and approaches.
• Preference for candidates with experience working with the Food and Agriculture Institute at the University of the Fraser Valley.
• Preference for candidates with experience working with post-secondary institutions.
• Preference for candidates that speak French.
• Projects may require the incumbent to travel nationally and internationally.
