Urban Core Ventures is a Victoria based real estate development and property management company with a passion for housing. The company designs and creates real estate development opportunities for residential and commercial spaces from in-fill housing, long-term rentals customs homes and securing below market housing.

Our company continues to grow, and we are now looking to add further expertise to the team and are seeking an Accounting & Business Manager to support the operations of the company.

Position Overview– Accounting & Business Manager :

Reporting to the Owner, the ideal candidate will possess a strong background in corporate finance and risk management. The position will oversee a variety of business and accounting functions, provide corporate administrative management and oversight in support of Urban Core Ventures real estate development and property management operations.

In addition to a strong financial background, the right individual will have some knowledge of property management and real estate development.

Specific Responsibilities :

Business and Financial Management :

  • Complete all day-to-day accounting / financial functions and manage accounting systems, policies, practices and procedures.
  • Analyze and improve financial operations related to property management, including cost controls, lease, rental administration, and vendor negotiations.
  • Manage accounts payable functions to ensure timely payments for all corporate entities and maintain positive vendor relationships.
  • Ensure corporate performance optimization with an aim to improve corporate financial controls and processes, identify potential risks and drive efficiencies for the company.

Statutory Reporting, Corporate Compliance :

  • Ensure compliance with municipal, provincial and federal financial regulations, standards and audit requirements.
  • Property Management Related Finance & Lease Efficiencies
  • Real Estate & Business Expansion Development

  • Assist in the development of financial feasibility projections for new projects.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive budgets for projects and the overall company.
  • Provide cost to complete analyze for any active development projects.
  • Work with the Owner to identify future opportunities for new development projects and develop strategic financial plans for the company’s growth and expansion.
  • Corporate Risk Management :

  • Identify and manage risk analysis initiatives and provide mitigation strategies to avoid negative impact for the company and its future growth.
  • Investment Management & Long-Term Financial Planning
  • The Accounting & Business Manager is a new position, and the job description will be further refined, in consultation with the successful candidate during the first three months of employment.

    Qualifications & Experience :

  • A degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field; advanced degree (e.g. CPA) is advantageous.
  • A degree in related discipline (e.g. CFA) or / an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in full-cycle accounting.
  • Experience and expertise in budgeting, risk management and risk analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting reconciliation processes and accounts payable and receivable functions.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.
  • Previous experience with property management or real estate development is highly preferable.

  • Compensation Package :

  • Base salary $85,000. - $115,000. per year, wage to commensurate with experience
