1 ‑ Temporary Full Time ‑Nurse Practitioner

he Nurse Practitioner works within the framework of nursing as amember of the interprofessional healthcare team to
provide care to patients of the Renal Service focusing on thehemodialysis population. The Nurse Practitioner role
will focus primarily on clinical practice requiring advancedclinical assessment, clinical reasoning, pharmacology, and
communication skills.
The Nurse Practitioner will also provide leadership to support theincorporation of and adherence to evidence based
interdisciplinary care of the hemodialysis patient throughout theorganization.
The Nurse Practitioner reports primarily to the Director of theRegional Renal Services with a matrix reporting
relationship to the Chief Nursing Officer, and accountability tothe Chief of Nephrology. Care is provided within the
scope of an RN (EC) and as outlined in the Renal Service NursePractitioner collaborative practice agreement, any
care that is outside of the Nurse Practitioner legislated scope ofpractice will be authorized through the use of
medical directives and direct orders. Nephrologist(s) will partnerwith the Nurse Practitioner routinely and provide
direction related to development, implementation and amendment ofpatient care plans. Nurse Practitioner practice
addresses the five domains of Advanced Practice Nursing : ClinicalPractice, Collaboration, Research, Leadership,
and Change Agent. The percentage of time dedicated to each ofthese domains is variable, based on the program
needs and will evolve with the program.
