WHAT’S THE JOB?
Reporting to the Site Supervisor and District Manager, the Remote Chef plays a key role by executing all culinary duties. The position is based at Wyloo Canada’s remote Esker Site, in the James Bay Lowlands of Northern Ontario.
Your key responsibilities include :
With the support of the Executive Chef, you will utilize a creative and appealing rotational menu with the dietary needs and tastes of the site and field crews in mindPreparing nutritious meals and snacks daily for up to 12 people alone or up to 40 people with the support of a Kitchen AssistantAdhering to safe food handling practices and supervision of the Kitchen AssistantMaintaining cleanliness, operational excellence, and safety in the kitchen / preparation areasPreparing, submitting, and receiving grocery orders while staying within project budget, ensuring minimal wastage, and maintaining onsite food inventoryActively participating in and contributing to a positive safety culture on the project while following all Outland-Horizon North and Wyloo Canada’s safe work practices and procedures, wearing and maintaining required PPE and participating in safety meetings and training, as requiredQualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
You have a Remote Cook Certificate and / or Culinary Diploma with previous remote camp experience (required)It's an asset if you are Red Seal Certified!You have a Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate (required)Must have an acceptable Criminal Records CheckYou are a highly responsible, team-oriented person who can prioritize tasks and maintain calm in stressful situationsYou have basic computer skills including Microsoft Office (word and excel), Microsoft Teams and email proficiency (Outlook)You have the ability to work efficiently and productively both independently and as part of a teamYou have the ability to handle the following physical demands : Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbsClimb ladders or stairsStand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended lengths of timePerform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both handsPerform work with arms at full length and with arms above shoulder heightAdditional Information

Remote Chefs work rotational schedules of 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off. You may be required to work weekdays, weekends and general holidays.
Wages are paid on an hourly basis. Specific pay details are discussed at the interview phase.
