Valley Regional Hospital, which opened in 1992, serves the people of Kings and Annapolis Counties. It provides specialty services as a referral centre for the Annapolis Valley and other areas of Western Nova Scotia.
Position Details
Position :Full-Time Security Guard.Site :150 Exhibition Street, Kentville NS B4N 5E3 , Valley Regional HospitalHours :Continental Rotation - 0800-2000 / 2000-0800.Payrate :$ 24.50 per hour.Key Responsibilities
Patrol Hospital Grounds :Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.Monitor Surveillance Systems :Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.Respond to Emergencies :Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.Provide Customer Service :Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.Conflict Resolution :De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.Report Writing :Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.Enforce Hospital Policies :Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards.Prerequisites
Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia.Valid Standard First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor).English (oral and written) fluency is a must.Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB).Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF / MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position.Please be aware : The UoF / MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position / availability.Why choose Paladin?Opportunities for training and professional development.Competitive wage and benefits package.Free Uniforms.Company paid Security license.Dry cleaning & hemming / tailoring allowance.Paid vacation & sick days.Additional perks.Education Requirements (All)
