Job Description

A Detector Engineer is a cybersecurity professional specializing in designing, developing, and maintaining systems and processes to detect malicious activities or unauthorized behaviors within a network, essentially creating and refining threat detection logic to identify potential cyber attacks by analyzing data from various sources and generating actionable security alerts; they play a crucial role in bridging the gap between raw data and meaningful security incidents.

Detector Engineer

Location : Victoria, BC

Salary : CAD upto 130,000

Our Verification and Validation (V&V) team includes Detector Product

Engineers who support our delivery of world-leading photon-counting

detector technology to major system OEMs for photon-counting computed

tomography (PCCT). In this position you will have a hands-on role in

ensuring we fully understand our detector performance.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Production Validation and Application Engineering :
  • Support test planning and execute test plans to establish

correlations between in-system CT imaging performance and

detector specifications, optimizing x-ray test protocols for

accuracy.

  • Product Verification :
  • Execute robust product verification plans, including data
  • acquisition, processing, and reporting activities, including

    best practices like compliance matrices referred to product

    requirements documentation.

  • Support the specification of hardware and software requirements
  • for verification and validation activities, ensuring

    comprehensive testing coverage.

  • Participate in design reviews with external teams / customers,
  • providing input on verification and testability across all

    design maturity stages.

  • Problem Solving :
  • Support root cause determination efforts for test failures where
  • appropriate, or when coming from customer failure reports,

    collaborating with the reliability team where a product failure

    occurred after shipment.

  • Leverage structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Utilize advanced data analysis capability to support failure
  • mode analysis and product reliability programs.

  • Others :
  • Ensure quality in all work produced; use appropriate best
  • practices to ensure this is achieved.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design,
  • manufacturing, and QA, to ensure integration

    of verification and validation processes throughout the product

    development process.

  • Participate in customer meetings and support activities,
  • demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and a customer-centric

    approach.

  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Experience Required :

  • Minimum 3 years of testing
  • or debugging complex hardware / software devices / systems.

  • Requirements management experience including interfacing with design
  • teams and customers, and traceability of verification.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to apply statistical tools, such as JMP, to solve practical
  • problems.

  • Experience with writing code to carry out data analysis
  • using MATLAB, Python, or similar software.

  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and
  • presentation skills.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Experience Preferred :

  • Experience verifying complex hardware, software,
  • or firmware environments; experience with detection or

    instrumentation products.

  • Experience in mixed-signal electronic device testing and / or design,
  • especially if it includes mixed-signal ASIC experience.

  • Hands-on experience in testing x-ray detectors, or
  • semiconductor devices.

  • Working knowledge of product development and validation in ISO9001
  • and / or ISO13485 environments.

    Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree in systems or electrical engineering, engineering
  • physics, physics, biophysics, or equivalent is preferred.

    Qualifications

    5 must haves for the Job

    Min 3 years product testing or debug ging of complex hardware / software / devices / systems

    Strong Troubleshooting and problem solving skills

    Verification & Validation

    Experience of data analysis tools (matlab, Python) or similar, including writing code

    Statistical tools such as JMP

    Degree in Systems or electrical engineering, engineering physics, physics or biophysics
