When you join SickKids, you become part of our community. We share a commitment and determination to fulfill our vision of Healthier Children. A Better World. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to work alongside the world’s best in paediatric healthcare.

Position Description

About Boomerang Health

Boomerang Health, powered by SickKids, is a multidisciplinary paediatric clinic, independent but wholly owned by The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). We are committed to working together, learning and creating an environment where everyone feels safe, represented, included, respected and valued. We cannot do this without a strong commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. As people and healthcare professionals, we stand together against racism and oppression which have a huge impact on the health of the many communities we serve.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate psychologist to join our dedicated team. This position offers a unique opportunity for an individual who is enthusiastic about working in paediatrics, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and has a strong desire for professional growth and skill development. The psychologist will assess, diagnose, and treat learning, behavioural, and socioemotional challenges within the context of the child’s developmental history and family functioning. A strong applicant is high energy, has a positive attitude and a passion for helping children and families. You will work with a team of professionals dedicated to providing the highest standard of care. This is your chance to join and contribute to a great organization.

Job Summary:

  • Provides an evidence-based approach to comprehensive assessment exploring a wide range of learning, attention and/or mental health needs (i.e., psychoeducational, developmental, neuropsychological and/or mental health assessments).
  • Provides assessment feedback and psychoeducation to families.
  • Provides evidence-based therapeutic interventions for behavioural and mental health challenges experienced by children and their families (e.g., anxiety, emotion regulation, attention issues, caregiver support).
  • Engages with children, adolescents, and caregivers individually and/or in group formats.
  • Communicates effectively and maintains relationships with the multidisciplinary team and healthcare providers both internally and outside of the clinic to ensure collaborative care.
  • Manages a varied caseload and meets required timelines.
  • Maintains complete and accurate medical records using the Electronic Medical Record system.
  • Participates in on-going and emerging clinical projects as required.
  • Proficient in using virtual technology for telehealth sessions.
  • Part-time and full-time positions available. Opportunity to work on weekends if interested.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology, with competencies in assessment and treatment of children, adolescents and families.
  • Registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
  • Candidates in supervised practice are also encouraged to apply.

Experience/Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in psychological assessment and evidence-based interventions with children, adolescents, caregivers, and families.
  • Experience with mental health, behavioural and/or developmental concerns.
  • Comfort working with a diverse pediatric population.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with members of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Utilizes critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to interact with children and adults.
  • Efficient time management and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to flexibly respond to continually changing program demands.

The children and families we care for are from a variety of communities, and so are our employees. We welcome and encourage everyone to join our organization and be part of our team.

When requested, SickKids will provide access and inclusion supports to eligible candidates to support their full engagement during the interview and assessment process. Information received related to access or inclusion will be addressed confidentially.

Thank you for your interest in joining SickKids. Only those applicants selected for an interview will be contacted. In accordance with our Hospital policy, employment at SickKids is conditional upon the Hospital’s receipt of all necessary documentation.
