This role sits within Laurentian Bank.

The incumbent will be responsible for managing the team in charge of financial reconciliation. He / she will be responsible for standardizing the processes under his / her responsibility, and for developing the expertise of the team's resources. He / she will also be responsible for optimizing current processes to increase efficiency and performance, and for coordinating change management in assigned initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and ensure complete control of the reconciliation processes (daily, monthly, quarterly and annual) for the accounts under its management.
  • Take charge of and monitor the application of reconciliation standards by his team (process, control, investigation and analysis).
  • Review and approve daily reconciliations, end-of-day reports and journal entries under his / her responsibility.
  • Responsible for discrepancies identified by his / her team and implement action plans and controls to correct situations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with various teams within operations and other internal or external partners to answer questions and reconciliation inquiries.
  • Influence stakeholders on reconciliation projects and working groups to demonstrate the impact of the Bank's activities.
  • Responsible for current and future mapping and documentation of processes under his / her responsibility.
  • Handle requests from the internal and / or external audit department for processes and accounts under his / her management within the required deadlines.
  • Review and transmit required reports to various stakeholders (e.g. finance or any other department) within established deadlines.
  • Execute any other related projects and / or requests, as requested by his / her manager.

Management

  • Accompany, coach and train his / her team with the aim of empowering resources.
  • Responsible for the HR aspects of his team (recruitment, objectives, salary review, mid-year review, etc.).
  • Organize regular one-on-one and team meetings with direct reports and implement best practices in hybrid work to develop a sense of belonging and mobilization.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or related field (CPA designation an asset).
  • 5 to 7 years' professional experience in the banking sector, including at least 1 to 3 years' experience in a management position.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English
  • with the ability to summarize results concisely and clearly and to communicate effectively with the team.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and reporting as well as any other banking products (e.g. Visa, digital banking, deposits, mortgages, etc.) is an asset.
  • Autonomy, initiative, leadership and ability to influence stakeholders to “challenge” the status quo and implement improvements and new solutions;
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills, ability to analyze situations, diagnose problems and develop proactive solutions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage priorities in a changing environment;
  • Flexibility in the face of work reorganization and adaptability in the face of emerging risks;
  • Familiarity with the use of large, complex financial database systems; ability to learn query functions in back-office processing systems such as SIBL, AS400, T24 and CPS are assets.
  • Proficiency in the following software : Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Word, Teams;
  • Work model : Hybrid, with periodic in-office workdays at the Bank's head office.

  • Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages
