Product Design Lead

The Company

Our client in downtown Toronto is looking for a Product Design Lead for a 1 year contract. This is an in office position, and the ability to travel to the US may be required.

The Position

The Product Design Lead will shape the design of complex enterprise software solutions that power critical business operations—such as planning, procurement, vendor management, and order management. This is not a typical UX role; it requires a strategic thinker who can design with depth and context, balancing user needs with business objectives in a highly data-driven environment. This role is hands-on—you’ll lead discovery, synthesize insights, and deliver production-ready designs.

Responsibilities

• Own the design process for a specific product area, from research through delivery.
• Conduct contextual research to understand user workflows, pain points, and operational constraints.
• Translate complex business and technical requirements into clear user journeys and intuitive UI solutions.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to negotiate scope and problem definitions, ensuring alignment between user needs and business priorities.
• Facilitate workshops and design reviews to drive clarity and alignment across teams.
• Document and communicate design decisions persuasively to stakeholders.
• Experiment with emerging tools, including AI-driven design platforms, to enhance workflows and outcomes.

• 5+ years in Product Design (UX/UI), with at least 1 year in a lead or senior role.
• Strong portfolio showcasing enterprise-level software design, not consumer apps.
• Experience collaborating with Product and Engineering teams in operations-heavy contexts.
• Familiarity with AWS environments is a plus.

What We’re Looking For

• You don’t just execute—you question, synthesize, and simplify complexity into actionable design directions.
• Comfortable speaking the language of Product Management and challenging assumptions when needed.
• Proven ability to design for B2B environments with complex workflows (ERP, SaaS, supply chain, procurement, or similar).
• Skilled in conducting user research, including interviews, field observations, and usability testing.
• Proficient in Figma and adaptable to new tools, including Generative AI platforms (Cursor, V0, Lovable, etc.).
