Maintenance Manager - Southwest Ontario (Waterloo)

Killam Apartment REIT, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is one of Canada's largest residential real estate investment trusts, owning, operating, and developing a $5.3 billion portfolio of apartments and manufactured home communities. We are currently seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead our Technicians and support the efforts of our property management team in Southwest Ontario (based in the Waterloo / Cambridge area).

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is a team player with strong leadership skills and a background in construction, project management, building systems and maintenance processes.

This position is Monday to Friday, typically daytime hours and does require some flexibility should emergency situations occur.

What you will do :

oCoordinate, supervise and coach maintenance staff

oInspect turnover units and determine scope of work

oWork with the Project Management team on regional projects and with property managers and outside contractors on the day-to-day needs of the properties

oAdhere to operating and capital budgets

oAssist with budget development and ongoing management

oObtain quotes and submit proposals when required

oMaintain safe and economical operation of all systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with legislated occupational Health & Safety procedures

oProvide leadership and technical support to other maintenance and building personnel to improve effectiveness and enhance tenant services

oKnowledge of all technical services and components of the building including electrical systems, mechanical systems, energy management systems, fire alarm / safety systems, grounds, parking, renovations, swimming pool, etc.
