What you will be doing
Reporting to the National Director of Brokerage, the Customs Manager ensures compliance with Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) regulations. They oversee import and export operations, leading the customs brokerage team and fostering relationships with governmental agencies and clients.

- Lead and manage a team of customs specialists, providing guidance, support, and coaching as needed.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all duty and customs regulatory inquiries, providing necessary support and guidance to the team and clients as needed.
- Track progress and productivity with team, assist team with issues that relate to releases and customs inquiries.
- Ensure entries are done in a timely manner to avoid storage and delays to customers.
- Closing of entries within required timeframe to avoid penalties.
- Manage and track issues and tasks, implementing root cause corrective actions as needed.
- Design and implement improved customs processes across the organization to enhance efficiency and compliance.
- E29B entries and carnet applications.
- After hours support for team members as needed.
- Communication with Rhenus offices and other agents in a timely manner on inquires.
- Drawback assistance to team members.
- Conduct audits of customs entries to ensure accuracy on H.S. Codes, tariff treatment, VDF codes, currency, and all other aspects of entry before submission to Cadex.
- Oversee relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders and Rhenus partners ensuring effective communication and collaboration in a timely manner.
- Manage inbound imports into Canada and exports to the US and other international destinations.
- Monitor ITMR for Cadex, rejects, and exams daily, ensure no entries are overdue.
- Collaborate with client to provide HS codes for new product launches and ensure compliance.
- Review and update HS codes and other relevant codes with accuracy and completeness.
- Support duty drawback processes and Canadian Duty Deferral program compliance.
- Facilitate the clients with Bond requirements, CARM or any other issues.
- Set up of new account for non-resident importers.
- Export cites applications.
What skills & experience you will bring to us
Minimum 5+ years of relevant management experience in customs brokerageCCS designation and customs license requiredStrong knowledge of customs tariff, duty drawback, HS codes, and government regulationsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on relationship buildingNon-resident business number application process experienceMust have knowledge of CARM processHighly proficient in oral and written communicationAbility to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervisionAbility to provide after hours support as neededStrong problem-solving and negotiating skillsProficiency in MS Office, with advanced Excel skillsWhat are some key figures for the role
