Job Summary
The Electrical Distribution Technologist provides technical design and drafting support for electrical distribution systems across utility, industrial, and infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for developing accurate drawings and documentation, supporting electrical design activities under the engineer's direction, and coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver safe, compliant, and constructible solutions in alignment with client and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, revise, and maintain electrical distribution drawings, including single-line diagrams, layouts, grounding plans, and conduit / cable routing
- Support the design of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems in accordance with utility, CSA, and CEC standards
- Assist engineers with electrical calculations, equipment selection, and material take-offs
- Develop drawing packages and technical documentation using AutoCAD and approved client or utility standards
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, utilities, and construction teams to support project execution
- Incorporate redlines, field markups, and as-built information into final project deliverables
- Support permitting, regulatory submissions, and technical reviews as required
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to schedule, scope, and deliverable tracking
- Adhere to Lauren Services quality, safety, and document control procedures
- Support continuous improvement of drafting standards, templates, and design workflows
Education
Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related disciplineEligibility for registration or active registration with a provincial technologist association (e.g., ASTTBC) is an assetSkills & Abilities
Proficient in AutoCAD for electrical distribution and utility design applicationsAbility to prepare, revise, and maintain single-line diagrams, layouts, and construction drawingsStrong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple deliverablesEffective written and verbal communication skills for coordination with engineers, project managers, utilities, and field teamsHigh attention to detail with a strong focus on drawing accuracy, quality control, and document managementAbility to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary EPC project teamKnowledge
