Water and Wastewater Process Engineer

Matchbox Consulting Group is looking for a Water and Wastewater Process Engineer in Calgary, AB

A leading multidisciplinary engineering firm is seeking a Water and Wastewater Process Engineer to join their Calgary office. This role is ideal for an experienced professional with 6–10+ years of experience in municipal water and wastewater treatment design. Depending on experience, candidates may step in as a Process Engineer or take on a Project Manager role with broader project oversight and client engagement.

You’ll be working on a range of municipal infrastructure projects ranging from small-scale pump replacements to multi million dollar treatment plant upgrades. The role involves hands on technical design work, interdisciplinary coordination, and involvement in construction and commissioning phases.

You’ll be actively involved in several ongoing projects, typically 5 to 8 at a time, where your primary focus will be on process design. Collaboration with internal teams across structural, electrical, and controls disciplines is a key part of the role. Work environment is flexible and team oriented, the client is open to candidates who are willing to relocate (relocation assistance would be provided on a case by case basis).

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead or contribute to the design of water and wastewater treatment facilities and pumping stations
• Translate client needs into process solutions, including the development of P&IDs and control strategies
• Prepare technical documentation such as design reports, cost estimates, and tender packages
• Work collaboratively with structural, electrical, mechanical, and controls teams to ensure integrated project delivery
• Support construction activities and participate in on-site commissioning when required
• Depending on experience, take on client engagement and project coordination responsibilities

Requirements:

• Civil and Environmental Process Engineering, with experience in water and/or wastewater treatment system design and construction.
• P.Eng registered with APEGA or other Canadian Province
• Strong understanding of treatment systems, process design, and municipal project delivery
• Experience working with Alberta municipalities is an asset
• Familiarity with related disciplines (structural, HVAC, electrical, controls)
