Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Mechanic to oversee the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of complex machinery and equipment within our facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, leadership qualities, and a proactive approach to ensuring operational efficiency and safety. This role offers an opportunity to lead maintenance initiatives, mentor junior technicians, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on a wide range of mechanical systems and equipment.
Lead maintenance projects, including planning, scheduling, and execution of repairs or upgrades.
Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues promptly to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
Supervise and mentor junior mechanics and maintenance staff, fostering a culture of safety and continuous learning.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs for compliance and reporting purposes.
Collaborate with production teams to coordinate maintenance schedules that optimize operational productivity.
Ensure all work complies with safety standards, environmental regulations, and City policies.
Provide inspection certificates ("safeties") on all City owed Heavy Equipment, including trucks, buses, and trailers.
Skills
Proven experience as a mechanic with expertise in industrial machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues efficiently.
Leadership qualities with experience mentoring or supervising maintenance teams.
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across departments.
Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints accurately.
Knowledge of safety protocols related to industrial maintenance environments.
Experience in arc and oxy-acetylene welding
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities effectively.
