Your Role & ResponsibilitiesThe Information Systems (IS) department is responsible for our client’s global information technology (IT) infrastructure and the maintenance and development of various IT systems that are critical to our client’s operation.

In line with our organizational value of innovation, and our commitment to operational excellence, we are embarking on a multi-year project to implement a single global instance ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system across all locations.

The ERP Project Manager is a strategic role designed to guide our organization through a critical digital transformation to a new global ERP system, which will be a tier one system (i.

e., SAP / Oracle / Microsoft / IFS). This role will be responsible for ensuring the project is delivered on time, within scope, and budget, and meets the strategic objectives of the organization.

This role will drive the project from planning through to execution and post-implementation support, focusing on achieving optimal operational efficiency and scalability to support future growth.

The ERP Project Manager will work closely with senior leadership, including C-level executives, to ensure the project aligns with strategic objectives.

Collaboration with stakeholders at multiple levels across manufacturing, operations, finance and IS is crucial to understanding the diverse needs of the business and ensuring the ERP system supports these areas effectively.

It is also critical to establish and maintain strong relationships with ERP vendors, consultants, and other third-party service providers to ensure access to the best resources, technologies, and expertise.

ResponsibilitiesThe following is a high-level description of the role responsibilities and is not meant to be all-inclusive : Lead the ERP project from inception to completion, including project planning, resource allocation, budgeting, and risk management.

In conjunction with vendors, develop a detailed project plan that includes milestones, timelines, and resource allocation to ensure a smooth and timely implementation.

Manage stakeholder expectations through regular communication, workshops, and training sessions to ensure buy-in and support across the organization.

Oversee the system configuration to ensure it meets the specific needs of our global operations without compromising on system performance or future scalability.

Coordinate with vendors to understand system capabilities and manage vendor relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

Develop and enforce project management and governance frameworks to ensure adherence to best practices and standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Work closely with senior stakeholders to understand business requirements and ensure the ERP solution aligns with our strategic goals and operational needs.

Oversee a cross-functional project team, including IT, finance, operations, and external consultants, to ensure effective collaboration and communication.

Develop and implement a comprehensive change management strategy to facilitate user adoption and minimize disruption to business operations.

Monitor project progress, identify, and address any issues or delays, and provide regular updates to the executive team and project stakeholders.

Implement rigorous testing phases, including unit testing, system integration testing, and user acceptance testing, to ensure the system is reliable and meets all requirements before going live.

Establish a support structure for post-implementation, including training programs for end-users and centralized support (internal and / or outsourced) to address any issues promptly.

This role demands a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and the capacity to foresee and mitigate potential issues before they arise.

The incumbent is empowered to make strategic decisions that significantly influence the project's direction and outcome.

Given the direct interaction with financial systems, a solid understanding of financial implications is crucial for making informed decisions.

This role would typically solve the following problems using their own judgment, experience, and expertise : Problems related to timelines and project deliverablesIssues related to potential differences between various departments and resourcesQuestions, requests for information from external customers and stakeholdersTypical problems that would be passed on to a supervisor or colleague include : Information security concerns or a data breachFinance, budget and legal related constraintsProblems related to the Quality PolicyDecision-making within this role is informed by extensive experience with ERP systems and other complimentary enterprise applications, adherence to industry best practices, and a proactive approach to keeping abreast of emerging technologies.

Errors in judgment or execution can significantly impact the organization's reputation and the trust placed in its operations.

Given the critical nature of the systems and processes involved, such errors could lead to financial impact or adversely affect customer service.

It is essential for the role to be executed with precise care and diligence to minimize the risk of errors and their potential consequences.

Working ConditionsAttention is shifted from one job task to another frequently during the day. Therefore, time and priority management abilities in addition to excellent communication skills are essential for this position.

Accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task are key success factors.Examples of mental effort include : Concentration, computer skills, reading comprehension, personnel skills, etc.

Understanding complex business processes (spanning the physical world and information systems) and how those generate data and potential insights.

Examples of physical effort include : Working in a seated position at a desk, more than 6-7 hours per dayA valid passport and the ability to travel to various domestic and international jurisdictions is a requirement of the position.

Thinks strategically and works with a myriad of stakeholders and resources from multiple department groups to assist with the delivery of project requirements.

Provides core information, develops and maintains activity schedules and provides information for reporting requirements.

Conducts necessary research and captures information to maintain project data worksheets required to determine ongoing scope of work.

Can be tasked to manage junior project coordinator staff.Makes decisions to routine problems within established guidelines.

Can work independently with little oversight.Makes decisions within scope of position and authority as well as independent decisions regarding planning, organizing and scheduling work for project technical resources.

Makes decisions using established guidelines, procedures and / or policies.Considered a fully qualified project coordinator.

Works within established guidelinesResearch, document and maintain core project dataAssist the Project Manager with project reporting and documentation requirementsPlan and coordinate project activities for timely completions.

Collaborate with IS technical resources and IS SME’s to assign appropriate activities, negotiate schedules and complete documentationManage IS Change Management and data tracking requirements for the projectAct as the point of contact and communicate to appropriate work stream participantsAttend and / or lead project meetings and follow-up with outstanding tasks.

Work with Project Manager and IS Communications regarding any business wide impact activitiesWhat you’ll need to succeedMinimum Qualifications.

QualificationsWork RequirementsThe role is based in the Cambridge or Edmonton location and may require occasional travel domestically and internationally.

Typical office hours are Monday to Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m. However, due to the nature of the work, work outside of typical hours including evenings and weekends may be required.
