To help us continue growing, we’re seeking an experienced EHS Specialist to oversee the Safety & EHS functions for our newly acquired site, Dextran Products, which is in Scarborough, Canada.
Job Summary :
The EHS Specialist ensures the necessary resources are available for the successful execution of the EHS Program for BioSpectra Canada Facility.
The EHS Specialist inspects the workplace for adherence to regulations on safety, health and the environment. Through such inspections, the EHS Specialist identifies any potential hazards and implements the processes and procedures designed to prevent injury to workers and / or damage to the environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Conducts facility EHS Inspections as necessary.
- Conducts Fire Extinguishers and AED inspections.
- Maintains PPE and life-critical safety equipment inventories.
- Ensures the facility PPE is readily available as needed and provides input or recommendations for PPE storage and availability.
- Performs daily walk-through in support of the EHS program.
- Investigates areas of non-conformance to the EHS program and provides findings to management.
- Creates, Modifies, and trains on EHS related SOPs are current
- Reports and investigates safety events and provides recommendations for corrective actions.
- Performs inspection of waste accumulation areas to ensure compliance.
- Coordinates Waste pick up with approved service provider for each facility.
- Completes Job Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments
- Provides metrics and trend analysis regarding safety performance.
- Supports Environmental Reporting requirements as needed.
- Participates in JHSC as a worker representative.
- Maintains SDS files for each department.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Good working knowledge of EHS principals, safety requirements, and security operations in a business environment
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with management, to understand and follow standard operating procedures, to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance, to write and investigate required reports;
to make independent and good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedures
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Ability to learn cGMP, QA program and Safety programs
Physical Requirements :
- Stand, Walk, or Sit for extended periods
- Climb, crawl, bend, twist, carry, reach, push, pull, and lift throughout shift
- Work around chemicals and / or hazardous materials
- Requires the ability to wear a respirator and chemical protective clothing
Work Hours :
- Exempt Position;
- Minimum of 40-45 Hours Week, or other agreed upon documented schedule
Pay :
Starting at a minimum of $70,000 annually CAD
