- Assist patients during surgical consultations and pre-operative assessments under the supervision of senior physicians.
- Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and verify completion of all required investigations (e.g., MRIs, X-rays, and other imaging studies) prior to surgery.
- Ensure surgical instruments (e.g., cages, screws, screwdrivers) are prepared and properly sterilized before use.
- Verify that the operating theatre (OT) meets sterilization and infection prevention (IP) standards.
- Coordinate closely with the OT team to manage surgery schedules and ensure timely patient transfers.
- Confirm patients' financial clearance and ensure all documentation is complete before surgery.
- Fill in operation notes and write post-operative orders as required by hospital policy.
- Prepare discharge slips and provide post-operative education to patients and attendants.
- Monitor and follow up with patients before and after surgery to assess recovery and manage complications.
- Conduct daily patient rounds, change surgical dressings, monitor surgical drains, and complete DPN sheets.
- Submit biopsy and culture samples to the laboratory and follow up on the results.
- Provide patient education on medication use and preventive health practices.
- Record pre-operative patient videos and submit them to the data collector as per protocol.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential patient records, charts, and reports.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated care.
- Attend regular staff meetings, medical conferences, training sessions, and other professional development activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager to ensure continuity and quality of care.
Qualification
Education and Qualifications:
- MD Diploma or equivalent recognized medical degree.
Experience and Skills:
- At least 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in surgical or hospital settings.
- Knowledge and experience in surgical care, OT procedures, and post-operative management.
- Strong familiarity with hospital systems, documentation, and infection control practices.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating in a multidisciplinary team.
Language Requirements:
- Good Pashto – spoken, reading, and writing.
- Good Dari – spoken, reading, and writing.
- Good English – spoken, reading, and writing.
