Reporting directly to the CFO, you will lead a team of four tax professionals, overseeing indirect, corporate, and international taxation. In this hands-on, transactional role, you will engage directly in the preparation, review, and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with Canadian and international tax regulations. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing tax strategies, collaborating with advisors and service providers across various jurisdictions, and acting as a trusted advisor on tax and entity management matters for new business initiatives. You will also present updates on tax strategy, risks, and exposures, providing critical insights into the company’s tax practices. The ideal candidate has broad expertise in tax functions, strong knowledge of indirect taxes (VAT / GST), and experience in both international and Canadian tax compliance. Proven leadership experience is essential, and the ability to lead an international team is a valuable asset. This role offers the opportunity to have a significant impact on a global scale, blending operational involvement with high-level strategic oversight. Responsibilities International and Income tax  Establish and monitor Targray’s international tax policies and compliance for its existing companies and for its continued planned growth in various jurisdictions to support the commodities trading internationally.  Responsible for the development, roll-out and continued monitoring of the company’s transfer pricing policy and strategy. Responsible for completion of its Canadian and US income tax compliance including all related analysis and support. Oversight of the Company’s tax compliance in all operational jurisdictions. Responsible for accounting for income taxes in Canadian and International subsidiaries. Responsible for audits of international, federal (US and Canada), provincial, and state income tax. Lead the international tax team and manage any third-party providers for tax compliance and advice. Indirect tax Oversee and manage the process, while also performing research and providing guidance to business on import and export taxes, VAT, sales and other indirect taxes in various jurisdictions for existing and potential transactions.   Lead the indirect tax team and oversee the Companies sales tax, VAT, and fuel tax filings. Including any analysis of new license requirements and / or sales tax registrations, management of fuel licenses and any audits relating to these licenses and / or VAT.  Other Works closely with Targray’s legal department regarding establishment of new entities internationally and ongoing entity management compliance. Strategically review Targray Group entities for potential restructuring and tax planning strategy, including dividend planning. Be an impactful member of the finance department's management team.   Requirements Master’s degree in Taxation or equivalent Recognized professional title in accounting and / or law. Minimum of 10 years related experience, including 3 or more years leading and managing an international tax team Experience at a top 4 accounting firm is an asset Experience in leading Knowledge / skills  Experience in commodities trading, supply chain management, logistics firm is highly preferred Experience in an international business and / or multinational corporation or firm is required Knowledge of Canadian and US tax rules is required. Experience with Switzerland, India, and any other jurisdiction is an asset. Proven ability to navigate through complexity and effectively solve problems Outstanding business judgment and intuition, and ability to take initiatives, learn quickly, and provide recommendations Track record of driving results with multiple deliverables at the same time and strong ability of time and priority management Excellent communicator with an ability to interact with senior management Ability to lead large scale initiatives, and work on key projects with executive management.
