The University of Lethbridge’s Destination Exploration (DE) is accepting applications for
a full-time term General Programs Coordinator (Program Administration 12) for its youth outreach programs, to begin March 9, 2026.
We are seeking a creative and motivated person to coordinate and deliver DE Youth STEM general outreach programs. DE is the University of Lethbridge’s Youth STEM organization located in the Science Commons on campus with a mission to bring science and technology to life in a fun and educational manner. As a member of Destination Exploration, you will join a national network of STEM outreach programs under Actua, Canada’s largest STEM outreach organization. This will include program development, implementation, evaluation, staff mentorship and growth of our diverse and dynamic roster of youth programs.
If hired, you will work alongside our team of outreach leaders and volunteers. There is some flexibility in this position, but specific duties will include :
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver STEM outreach programs including camps, clubs, and Travelling Lab Coat programs for K to grade 12 students
- Design, adapt, and teach engaging hands-on STEM curriculum aligned with Alberta education standards and best practices
- Create new learning activities and continuously improve existing content using current STEM tools and technologies
- Manage all general programming logistics including scheduling, room bookings, transportation, equipment, and on-site delivery
- Coordinate school and community bookings, field trips, and outreach visits across Southern Alberta
- Train, schedule, mentor, and support instructors, student staff, volunteers, and interns
- Ensure safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environments for children, youth, and families
- Build strong relationships with schools, libraries, community partners, and funding partners
- Represent Destination Exploration and the University of Lethbridge in community, provincial, and national outreach activities
- Create and manage general programming promotions including social media, digital content, and advertising
- Ensure all communications meet university branding and quality standards
- Manage program registrations, enrollment tracking, and participant communications
- Track budgets, handle cash, and prepare program and funding reports
- Maintain and organize program spaces, equipment, and materials
- Support special events, new initiatives, and continuous program improvement
DE operates under the umbrella of the Faculty of Arts & Science and offers STEM outreach programs for adults and youth. These include school visits (Travelling Lab Coats), after school STEM clubs for elementary and middle school age groups, family and community events and week-long science and technology camps. We also work with local community groups such as the Boys and Girls club, Opokaa’sin, and local Girl Guides to offer STEM activities and programs in many different locations and settings.
Note : A valid unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s License with no more than 6 demerits and submission of a motor vehicle record (driver abstract) dated within 3 months of the posting close is required.

Bachelor’s degree in education, science, engineering or a related field, and / or related experienceOne to four years of experience working in youth programs, education, outreach, or STEM based learning environmentsSelf-starter, comfortable with working unsupervised, and at ease in a classroom settingExperience designing and delivering hands-on learning activities for children and youthKnowledge of Alberta K to 12 curriculum and age appropriate instructional practicesStrong ability to manage multiple programs, schedules, and logistics across different locationsExperience training, mentoring, or supervising instructors, student staff, or volunteersStrong digital skills and experience with databases including online registration systems, social media platforms and numerous office computer applicationsExperience creating digital content and promotional materialsFamiliarity with STEM education tools such as robotics, coding platforms, electronics, or science equipmentExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage students, families, educators, and partnersStrong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skillsCommitment to safety, risk management, and working responsibly with minorsAbility to travel and deliver programs either on or off campusStandard First Aid and CPR Level C, or willingness to obtainStarting Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE) $5,291.00 - $5,990.00 monthly Full Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE) $5,291.00 - $6,687.00 monthly (AUPE - Grade 12)
