Accounting Technician

Reporting to the V.P. Finance, the Accounting Technician will be primarily responsible for the full cycle of accounts payable and accounts receivable for a portfolio of properties.

TASKS

• Recording recurring, standard journal entries in the accounting system;
• Preparing bank reconciliations;
• Creating invoices and recording payments collected from tenants;
• Receiving, coding, and distributing supplier invoices for approval;
• Entering supplier invoices into the accounting system;
• Issuing checks and coordinating supplier payment;
• Reviewing and entering expense reports into the accounting system;
• Assisting with other ad hoc projects.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Previous experience in a similar role is essential; knowledge of the real estate industry is considered an asset.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
• Familiarity with financial reporting practices and an understanding of accounting systems and software, experience using Spectra and Simply Accounting is an asset but not essential
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• A team player who can develop and sustain cooperative working relationships
