ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Manager, Digital Experience, the Coordinator, Website is primarily responsible for all incoming requests for web updates, fixes, and additions. This role is responsible for maintaining consistency of current subsites including ongoing improvements to the user experience, navigation, and site health, implementing best practices in website design and content, and supporting the execution of an evolving SEO strategy. Working with internal stakeholders, this role will support the development of new microsites after first determining the need and functional requirements for each project request. The successful candidate will need to be a task-oriented solutions provider with an eye for detail and confidence in making recommendations based on industry standards and best practices in website design and UX / UI.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE OVERALL MISSION OF HOCKEY CANADA
Support in the development, build, and maintenance of microsites in both English and French on HockeyCanada.ca including but not limited to team, event, marketing, sponsorship, hockey development, and content microsites.
Monitor and update content for the Rulebook and Concussion Awareness apps, as required.
Support in managing all requests submitted through the Hockey Canada internal web request inbox, including but not limited to long- and short-term critical path planning for each project request.
Assist in posting content (scores, photo galleries, video / written features, etc.) before, during, and after games during all International and Domestic events.
Support the execution of Hockey Canada’s SEO strategy in both English and French.
Maintain healthy site performance (troubleshoot issues, ensure the website has no errors, no broken links, and is otherwise presented as best as possible).
Deliver the strategy for continuous improvement of the user experience for HockeyCanada.ca.
Assist in the monitoring of site performance including sessions / user, pages / session, time on site, bounce rate, site health, etc.
Conduct website performance tests and troubleshoot content issues.
Support all departments in the posting of their content.
Stay current on industry standards and trends and champion digital best practices.
Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE YOU’LL NEED
A student with a 2-year technical diploma in Web Production and Design or an applicable field.
1-2 years of experience building websites with stacks and / or content management systems.
Intermediate working skills in Photoshop. Illustrator and Dreamweaver.
Knowledge of front-end technologies including CSS3, JavaScript, HTML5, and jQuery.
Experience working with debugging tools such as Firefox and Chrome DevTools.
Good understanding of website architecture and aesthetics.
Excellent interpersonal skills; promotes cooperation and commitment within a team to achieve goals and objectives.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is an 8-month to 1-year contract
Ability to work staggered hours, evenings, and weekends as necessary
