Who you are and what you’ll do

We’re looking for a Senior Software Developer who is ready to hit the ground running, contribute immediately, and grow into a pod leader role within our engineering team. This role blends technical excellence with leadership potential. You will own projects end-to-end, manage roadmaps, communicate with internal and external stakeholders, and make architectural decisions that impact your pod. Flexibility is key : you may lead one pod part-time while contributing to another, or transition fully into an individual contributor role as project needs evolve. In addition you will :

• Build and adapt full-stack and backend systems designed for fast experimentation, quick iteration, and evolving product needs.
• Take ownership of projects, ensuring timely delivery and excellence.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Participate in architectural and design decisions.
• Lead a cross-functional pod, managing resources, priorities, and roadmaps (for those moving into the leadership path).
• Stay up-to-date with AI trends and help integrate AI into our products.
• Mentor junior developers and foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

Because of this, we can’t guarantee exactly what you’ll be working on three months from now but we can guarantee that you will be working on high value projects that will foster your growth along with Mappedin’s. We follow the Test Driven Development methodology to write code that is testable, tested, and only does what it needs to do. We don’t expect you to be an expert in TDD when you start, but we do expect you to become one. You also own the quality of your own work, and we expect you to prove that with your own integration and end to end tests.

At Mappedin, we don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach to how we work. While we have colleagues around the globe, some roles are best suited for full-time, in-person work at our home office in Waterloo. This position will require being in office four days per week.
