From brilliant creatives, to technology trailblazers, across the globe, WBD offers career‑defining opportunities, thoughtfully curated benefits, and the tools to explore and grow into your best selves. Here you are supported, here you are celebrated, here you can thrive.
Meet Our Team
Software development teams in WBD’s Direct‑to‑consumer (DTC) division build and deliver applications and services powering the customer experience of products such as HBOMax, which run on connected TVs, set‑top boxes, smartphones, tablets, consoles, PCs, and other streaming devices.
Operational Engineering teams play a critical role in ensuring these streaming products and services run smoothly and efficiently at scale. Our specialized teams focus on areas such as Infrastructure and Cluster Management, Release and Development Processes, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Operational Excellence, and Observability.
Who You Are
The ideal candidate has a passion for technology. You likely have been a software developer in your past developing features for customers in either a customer‑facing application or backend service. However, during your tenure, you have found interest in serving your fellow software developers through innovative platforms, tools, services, and processes that help them be productive.
You also have amazing skills that allow you to take requirements to produce scalable, reliable, and easy‑to‑understand architecture. You are astute in taking an architectural design and performing a work breakdown for your team so that your team can deliver value each sprint. You are a mentor to your fellow software developers and help each person grow.
What You’ll Do
As part of the Operational Engineering organization, you’ll use software to tackle data challenges and automate solutions. You’ll expand our operational data capabilities and define how we provide developers and leaders with operational intelligence. By understanding our streaming service, you’ll use your software architecture, infrastructure, data, and cloud expertise to optimize our technical ecosystem. You’ll need to be deeply technical and collaborative. Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code, data pipelines, site reliability engineering, DevOps, and data lake management is desired. Strong systems knowledge and troubleshooting skills are also needed. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker, passionate about technology, and driven to innovate. They should demonstrate data‑driven decision‑making, curiosity, and a love for solving complex challenges.
Roles & Responsibilities
You work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in‑depth evaluation of variable factors. You play a leading role on the team designing and developing major functional changes to existing software systems or new ones.
You create functional‑level impact and deliver more complex functional changes. You implement activities that generally impact multiple components, processes, your own work, and other units, teams, and projects.
You design components and complex architectures while solving business problems with simple and straightforward solutions, applying appropriate technologies and software development best practices. You lead the design and development of the most complex enhancements.
You build multiple stable, scalable feature changes that can be successfully shipped to customers in production. Your software contributions in production are the model for highly available, low latency, and efficient software.
You are a collaborative leader that makes other developers and team members around you more productive by sharing your knowledge and helping to drive technical decisions. You can communicate complicated concepts simply.
You drive best practices and set standards for your team. You are a role model for your teams. Your software contributions in production are the model for highly available, low latency, and efficient software.
You are expected to mentor other developers on your team.
What to Bring
At least 5 years of overall experience in software, systems, and infrastructure.
At least 3 years of hands‑on experience with Cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), including design, implementation, and maintenance of large‑scale IaC provisioned environments (e.g., CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation).
Strong CS fundamentals and a track record of implementing highly reliable automation using any scripting or programming language such as Python / Go.
Experience working across product, software development, and analytics teams to evaluate new ideas, discuss technical concepts, create scalable designs, implement new models, and make trade‑offs to remove roadblocks.
Operational experience (e.g., on‑call rotation, incident response, playbooks, gamedays).
Ability to collaborate effectively with remote peers across disparate geographies and time zones.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with particular emphasis on technical documentation (including diagramming).

Experience with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes or AWS EKS.
Hands‑on experience with automating development workflow pipelines (CI / CD).
Experience with a variety of cloud services like OpenSearch, AMP, Kinesis, network, storage, etc.
Hands‑on experience with at least two build systems (gradle, maven, yarn, npm, bazel, make, buck, rush).
Deep understanding of distributed systems, micro‑service architecture, Kafka, logging / metric / tracing platforms (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana, OTEL, etc.), and security.
