We are currently seeking an experienced Shop Manager to lead and oversee the daily operations of our busy trucking company shop in Steinbach, Manitoba. This role is critical in ensuring our fleet and equipment are maintained to the highest standards, supporting the reliability and safety that our customers expect.

Scope of Work
Oversee and coordinate daily shop operations, including scheduling, workflow, and technician assignmentsLead and mentor a team of journeyman and apprentice technicians, ensuring productivity and quality standards are metManage preventative maintenance and repair programs for all fleet equipmentMonitor shop safety, compliance, and adherence to company policies and industry regulations (CVIP, DOT, NSC, etc.)Develop and implement shop policies, procedures, and best practices to improve efficiencyControl shop budgets, parts inventory, and vendor relationships, including outsourced repairsTrack and analyze KPIs such as shop productivity, cost per repair, and downtimeCollaborate with operations and dispatch teams to minimize downtime and maximize fleet availabilityPrepare and maintain accurate maintenance records and reportingWhat You Bring
Previous experience managing a truck or heavy equipment shop (minimum 5 years preferred)Journeyman Truck / Transport Mechanic (Red Seal) certification preferredStrong leadership skills with proven ability to supervise, motivate, and develop a teamKnowledge of regulatory requirements for fleet safety and inspectionsExperience managing budgets, cost control, and vendor negotiationsFamiliarity with fleet maintenance software (e.g. MIR, or equivalent)Strong organizational and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environmentExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsResults-driven mindset with a focus on uptime, safety, and cost efficiencyAt Big Freight Systems, we are an equal opportunity employer that values diversity in the workplace.
