Salary : CAD $90-150k

Sera4 is expanding the Cloud Engineering team powering our Teleporte access control platform. Were looking for an experienced backend developer to design APIs, build scalable services, and contribute to DevOps automation and management.

Sera4 is a Canadian leader in identity and access control, building the Teleporte ecosystem that combines hardware, mobile, and cloud to secure critical infrastructure worldwide.

What youll do

Build and maintain backend services in Node.js and Ruby on Rails (bonus for Go)
Contribute to CI / CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure reliability
Collaborate across hardware, mobile, and product teams to deliver seamless solutions
Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker
Balance backend development with DevOps responsibilities

What were looking for

5+ years of professional software engineering experience

Expert inNode.js and / or Ruby on Rails development

Familiarity with microservices, APIs, and distributed systems

Hands-on with AI coding tools like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar

Solid Linux + Cloud DevOps skills (AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar)

Proven experience with Docker and CI / CD workflows

Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken)

Must be based in Canada and able to come to the Waterloo, Ontariooffice _occasionally _

Local candidates given priority

Nice to have

Kubernetes, Terraform, or Helm

Security best practices for SaaS / on-prem

Experience in IoT or hardware + software environments

Familiarity with ISO 27001
