Job Description
As a Electrical Technologist, you will play a vital role in the creation and development of electrical plans and designs for transportation projects. Working closely with engineers and project managers, you'll translate conceptual designs into detailed technical drawings and documentation that facilitate the construction and implementation of electrical systems.
Responsibilities :
Drafting and Design : Utilize MicroStation and AutoCAD software to create detailed drawings, schematics, and layouts for transportation electrical systems, including lighting, signaling, power distribution, and control systems.
Technical Support : Assist engineers and designers in developing electrical design concepts and specifications. Collaborate closely with project teams to ensure that drawings accurately reflect design intent and meet project requirements.
Documentation : Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including plans, elevations, sections, and wiring diagrams, to support the implementation and operation of electrical systems. Organize and manage drawing files and project documentation effectively. Coordination : Coordinate with other drafting and design team members, as well as external stakeholders such as architects, contractors, and regulatory agencies, to integrate electrical designs seamlessly with overall project plans.
Quality Assurance : Conduct thorough reviews of drawings and documentation to identify and resolve discrepancies, errors, or inconsistencies. Ensure that drawings comply with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
Software Proficiency : Stay proficient in CAD software tools and related applications, staying up-to-date with the latest features and techniques to enhance productivity and efficiency in drafting and design tasks.
Communication : Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to clarify design requirements, address technical issues, and provide updates on project progress. Participate in design meetings and reviews as needed.
Qualifications
Associate degree or certificate in drafting, design, or related field.
Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or Revit, with a strong understanding of drafting principles and techniques.
Previous experience in electrical drafting or design, preferably in the transportation or infrastructure sector.
Familiarity with electrical engineering concepts and terminology, including wiring diagrams, circuit layouts, and electrical symbols.
Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, such as NEC, IEEE, and CSA.
Detail-oriented mindset with excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to producing accurate and high-quality work.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment
