Overall Responsibilities

To provide leadership and direction through proper training and communication to operations personnel, to meet schedule timelines. To supervise the manufacturing and packaging of product in a safe and cost effective manner in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices.

Specific Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Maintain safe and efficient operations.
  • Direct supervision of unionized hourly staff, across rotating shifts
  • Promote and lead a safe environment
  • Participate in and lead daily meetings (with hourly and salary teams)
  • Assign employees to specific duties on a day-to-day basis
  • Assist in planning of daily and weekly production schedules and staffing requirements
  • Troubleshoot production issues to minimize impact
  • Provide initial and ongoing training to employees in areas of safety, equipment and handling, SOPs, GMP requirements and company policies and practices
  • Inspect all machinery for cleanliness, safety requirements and proper setup prior to production and work within the work order system if repairs are required
  • Monitor and maintain housekeeping and sanitation standards
  • Interact with peers from other departments to achieve a common goal
  • Work with Continuous Improvement on opportunities for improvement
  • Draft and issue coaching / counselling and disciplines
  • Maintain and create accurate Standard Operating Procedures and One Point Lessons
  • Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices and compliance standards are consistently met.
  • Control material inventories ensuring accuracy and prompt disposition of rejected supplies.
  • Control and maintain appropriate shipping documentation.

Working in compliance with the company's Health & Safety Policies / SOP's including but not limited to the Safety Responsibilities Procedure.

  • Will comply with Good Manufacturing Practices in all GMP sensitive areas of Jamieson Laboratories Ltd. facilities.
  • Daily review of hourly payroll, attendance policies and time off requests.
  • Special projects as assigned.
  • Review weekly consumables and reorder as necessary
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in related discipline complimented by professional development in operations management and supervisory skills training.
  • 2-4 years’ experience in supervisory or leadership position.
  • Demonstrated experience with an MRP system and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Detailed knowledge of employee safety requirements in a production environment
  • Experience in SOP writing and GMP compliance in an production environment.
  • Ability to work and direct others in an organized and safe environment
  • Strength in inter-personal, teamwork and communication skills
  • Familiar and comfortable with computer applications
  • Innovative, adaptable, and motivated towards continuous improvement.
  • Excellent reactive problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
  • Ability to work all shifts as required including weekend work.
