Nursing Unit Clerk

Position Summary

Northern Health is looking for an experienced, highly efficient, and self-directed Nursing Unit Clerk.

In accordance with established vision and values of the organization and working under general supervision, the Nursing Unit Assistant performs a variety of clerical duties related to the operation of a patient / resident care area such as acting as a communication link for the Unit by transcribing and processing physicians' orders, communicating with other departments and hospitals, coordinating patient / resident appointments, arranging patient / resident tests and receiving results, receiving and directing visitors, telephone answering, assembling / maintaining patient / resident charts and performing keyboarding and data entry responsibilities.

Nursing Unit Clerk certification is required for this position.

Shift Rotation / Hours of work : Days - 07 : 30 to 15 : 30, Rotating

Dawson Creek & District Hospital Dawson Creek and District Hospital is a full service community hospital that provides service to Dawson Creek and surrounding communities. It has 31 Acute Care beds and 15 regional adult psychiatric beds. Dawson Creek is the Orthopaedic Trauma and Surgical centre for the Northeast Region of BC. Services include :

• Respiratory Therapy
• Primary Care
• Acute Care
• Diagnostic Imaging
• Laboratory

Visiting specialists including :

Dawson Creek Wide blue skies and the rolling foothills of the Northern Rockies surround Dawson Creek. The city is also known as the Mile Zero City, as it marks the start of the Alaska Highway, a 2,400 km long highway connecting Alaska and the Yukon to Western Canada and the United States. Dawson Creek has a population of approximately 12,500. It provides primary service to a population of approximately 20,000 and helps serve the larger population of the Peace River Region of 60,000. There are eleven elementary schools, one middle school and one secondary school. The Northern Lights College provides adult education.
