As part of the Human Resources and Training department, the  Workplace Coach / Instructor  works in a team to develop, coach and mentor apprentices. The Workplace Coach / Instructor will help evaluate and develop learning paths for apprentices of three different aviation trades, while working with Supervisors, Crew Leads and other production staff to ensure the apprentices are getting quality work experience to develop their skills set.

The Workplace Coach / instructor provides aircraft technical training, as well as other required hard skills and soft skills development. The incumbent must also possess a broad range of personal qualities, experiences and technical skills required to deal with ever-changing priorities, in an autonomous fashion.

Only Canadian Residents or Permanent Residents will be considered at this time.

  • Be familiar with and act in a manner which reflects Cascade Aerospace’s Policies and Procedures including, but not limited to, culture and values, respectful workplace, health and safety, attendance, and security;
  • Delivery of training using a variety of instructional techniques, training aids and hands-on practicals;
  • Responsible for development, delivery and revision of courseware associated with the theoretical and practical aircraft system(s) instruction, in order to comply with Transport Canada guidelines and other regulatory agencies, or to meet individual customer requirements;
  • Responsible for development, delivery and revision of exams associated with theoretical and practical aircraft instruction under areas of expertise, following applicable Transport Canada guidelines (or any regulatory agency involved in the certification);
  • Support Production Resourcing with coordinating apprentice rotation and logbook signoffs, labour fluctuations and ensure crew capabilities are adequate;
  • Assist with probationary and annual performance reviews;
  • Assist with the creation and monitoring of department KPIs;
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to Crew Leads and assist with oversight of assigned apprentices;
  • Monitor jobs and help coordinate task assignments;
  • Develop action items based on Onboarding Survey and Exit Interview data;
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Be familiar with Transport Canada Regulations (CARS), Technical Airworthiness Manual (TAM), Quality Control Procedures (QCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Process Standards (CPS), all maintenance, manufacturing and policy manuals, and scope of their certification authority;
  • Excellent communication skills : both verbal and written English mandatory;
  • Proven ability to communicate in a constructive manner; explaining processes, providing support for improvement, negotiating around difficult areas and providing a positive working environment.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
  • Good organizational skills;
  • Proven excellent attendance and reliability;
  • Experience and knowledge in the use of audio / visual equipment;
  • Excellent attendance, reliability and time management skills
  • Excellent understanding of aircraft practices and repair design.
  • Certificate in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (approved by TCCA or the applicable governing body) or equivalent considered an asset;
  • Holder of AME (AME-M2, AME-E) license of Certification Authority within the scope of their trade considered an asset;
  • Provincial Instructor’s Diploma or equivalent considered an asset
  • 5-10 years of technical experience performing heavy duty maintenance on a variety if transport category aircraft considered an asset;
  • Experience with aircraft certification authorities;
  • CC130 B-H & J Aircraft DND / Military experience considered an asset.
