On-Call Weekend Supervisor
Description
The On-Call Weekend Direct Support Supervisor is responsible to professionally work as part of a supervisory team that ensures both the effective continuous operation of Reena’s residential systems and the health and safety and well-being of persons with a developmental disability and their staff on weekends on an on- call basis.
The On-Call Direct Support Supervisor is expected implement agency policies and procedures and Collective Agreement articles at all times through booking staff replacements and supporting staff through difficult situations that may arise.

Key Responsibilities
1) Advisory Capacities
- Establishes and enacts familiarity with Reena’s policies and procedures
- Understands and follows staff Collective Agreements
- Fields inquiries from staff with regard to challenging or unusual situations and advises in accordance with policies and procedures, contacting appropriate authorities if needed
- Maintains a mature, problem-solving, solution based focus while dealing with challenging situations
- Ensures adequate staffing for each location by replacing shifts through established procedures in accordance with the Collective Agreement
- Completes all appropriate paperwork
2) Supervisory Capacities
- Works as part of the supervisory team that ensures the effective continuous operation of Reena’s day and residential systems
- Supports staff through challenging situations
- Makes decisions quickly based on available information and conducts proper follow-up
- Completes own mandatory training and updates
- Works in collaboration with Residential System Team and other departments, as appropriate, to share information / ideas, problem solve and streamline procedures that impact on the system as a whole
- Ensures that all relevant information / issues / serious occurrences are communicated to the Residential Manager; follows appropriate channels of communication with regard to reporting and follow up of any situation requiring further attention
- Attends meetings as required
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Formal Education and Experience
- Three years related College Diploma or undergraduate University Degree (Social Services is preferred)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity or a combination of experience and related courses
- Minimum of 2 years related experience working with individuals with a developmental disability; requires demonstrated understanding and ability to work with individuals with challenging psychiatric, behavioural and medical needs

Reena is a non-profit organization that promotes dignity, individuality, independence, personal growth and community inclusion for people with diverse abilities within a framework of Jewish culture and values.
Reena was established in 1973 by parents of children with developmental disabilities as a practical alternative to institutions.
In 1977, Reena began receiving funding from the Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services and since that time has grown to provide support for hundreds of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
Reena offers a variety of services including : residential support, respite programs, counselling, therapy and advocacy.
