Job description

KWS Seeds Canada is searching for an experienced and motivated Territory Manager for the Western Prairie region . This position is ideal for someone with a strong seed sales and crop production background along with an understanding of cattle or livestock operations. While working remotely, being independent, organized, with a well-structured approach will be critical. Reporting to the Sales and Marketing Manager, this person will play an integral role in developing customer relationships and shaping the growth of KWS Seeds Canada.

The Territory Manager will be responsible for managing and achieving budgeted seed sales and service goals with retailers and farmers in southern BC, southern Alberta and west-central Saskatchewan. This individual will work with strategic retail partners to develop and transfer the necessary knowledge about KWS hybrid fall rye into farmer’s hands. Furthermore, this person will support and drive projects related to end-use market development in feed, food, and fuel, driving demand for KWS seed products, with special focus on livestock feed applications. Maintaining key partner relationships will be essential to grow the awareness of KWS Seeds Canada and the performance of its seed brands. This individual will also support and contribute to company marketing, production, logistics, and administrative processes to service direct customers and the indirect value chain more efficiently. This is a  Full time, permanent position  located in  Lethbridge, Alberta, CA.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Achieve KWS hybrid fall rye sales, pricing, gross margin, and service targets
  • Prepare sales forecasts, service retail, and plan customer events to meet sales goals Develop and execute on retail marketing programs Collaborate with marketing and channel partners and farmers to increase product awareness and acceptance Collaborating with administration to ensure effective execution of the annual retail marketing programs
  • Build and maintain relationships with : Retailers Farmers Commodity end users such as livestock feeders, feed companies, feed consultants, food companies and fuel companies Various industry organizations including agronomy, beef, and swine grower groups
  • Develop and promote product, production (agronomy), and feeding expertise with all stakeholders
  • Collaborate with retailer partners to increase product marketing and service to farmers including partner training, joint sales / service calls, field day support, grower meetings etc.
  • Host and participate in industry events
  • Manage customer / stakeholder data in a CRM (Salesforce)
  • Participate in auditing compliance to KWS intellectual property rights
  • Collect and analyze market data including planted acres, sales, market share, inventory and customer satisfaction
  • Support animal nutrition, seed production, processing, logistics, and marketing activities to efficiently service direct and indirect customers
  • Support timely and efficient marketing and administrative initiatives that are required to grow and manage the business
  • Assist colleagues and support other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications :

  • Post-secondary education in Agriculture (degree or diploma)
  • 5+ years of sales experience including sales to farmers and the retail channel with demonstrated success
  • Strong understanding of agronomy, crop management, and experience with livestock feeding systems
  • Strong understanding of the collaboration required between production, distribution and farmers
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a proven ability to negotiate contracts, agreements, and pricing
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills for KWS and our customers with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deliverables with minimal supervision. Results oriented.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems (Salesforce)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently with minimal supervision
  • Desire to collaborate globally with other KWS teams
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly (up to 30%)
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience in livestock management, particularly feeding systems for cattle, swine or poultry
  • Advanced sales experience in strategic planning, marketing, and project management
  • Experience in seed production, processing, and logistics
  • Familiarity with enterprise management systems for contract and account management
