Environnement de travail : Le projet sera réalisé sous la co-direction des Professeurs Dominique Drouin et Serge Ecoffey au sein de L’IRT-LN2, un « International Research Laboratory » du CNRS. Pr. Fabien Alibart et Pr. Yann Beilliard participeront à l’encadrement en nanofabrication et ingénierie neuromorphique. Le travail sera effectué principalement à l’Institut Interdisciplinaire d’Innovation Technologique (3IT) et à l’Institut Quantique (IQ) de l’UdeS, en collaboration étroite avec l’entreprise 1QBit. Le 3IT est un institut unique au Canada, spécialisé dans la recherche et le développement de technologies innovantes pour l’énergie, l’électronique, la robotique et la santé. L’IQ est un institut de pointe ayant pour mission d’inventer les technologies quantiques de demain et de les transférer en milieu industriel. 1QBit est un leader canadien dans le domaine du CQ, de l’IA et de l'informatique de haute performance. Son équipe multidisciplinaire conçoit des systèmes de contrôle, des compilateurs et des architectures de services pour les plateformes informatiques exotiques et de nouvelle génération. La personne bénéficiera d'un environnement de recherche exceptionnel où le personnel étudiant, professionnel, professoral et industriel travaillent conjointement pour développer les technologies futures de l'IA et du CQ.Sujet : Le projet vise à étudier des circuits neuromorphiques compatibles avec les conditions cryogéniques, basés sur des memristors TiO2 (c'est-à-dire OxRAM) et des circuits CMOS interconnectés avec des matériaux supraconducteurs. Cette puce CMOS-OxRAM permettra d'implémenter des méthodes de calibration automatique de BQ en utilisant des réseaux neuronaux de faible puissance directement situés dans le cryostat. La personne recrutée sera en charge de la fabrication de circuits CMOS-OxRAM avec des interconnexions supraconductrices et de la démonstration de calcul en mémoire en conditions cryogéniques. Soutenue par l'expertise du 3IT, de 1QBit et de l’IQ, la personne recrutée devra (i) fabriquer des memristors TiO2 sur des circuits CMOS avec des interconnexions supraconductrices, (ii) effectuer les caractérisations physico-chimiques et morphologiques des circuits CMOS-OxRAM afin de valider leur qualité, (iii) conduire des caractérisations électriques des circuits CMOS-OxRAM à température ambiante et cryogénique dans le Quantum Fab Lab de l'IQ, (iv) étudier les avantages apportés par les interconnexions supraconductrices en ce qui concerne le comportement et la précision de programmation des memristors, (v) démontrer le calcul en mémoire avec un réseau de 8×8 memristors à T° ambiante et cryogénique et comparer les performances obtenues.Profil recherché :

Dominique Drouin and Pr. Serge Ecoffey within the IRL-LN2, an International Research Laboratory of the French CNRS based in Sherbrooke (QC, Canada). Pr. Fabien Alibart and Pr. Yann Beilliard will also participate in the supervision. The work will be carried out mainly at the Interdisciplinary Institute for Technological Innovation (3IT) and at the Quantum Institute (IQ) of UdeS, in close collaboration with the company 1QBit. 3IT is a unique institute in Canada, specializing in the research and development of innovative technologies for energy, electronics, robotics and health. The IQ is a state-of-the-art institute whose mission is to invent the quantum technologies of tomorrow and transfer them to the industry. 1QBit is a Canadian leader in QC, AI and high-performance computing. Its multidisciplinary team designs control systems, compilers and service architectures for exotic and next generation computing platforms. The student will thus benefit from an exceptional research environment that combines students, professionals, professors and industrialists working hand-in-hand to develop the future technologies for AI and QC.Research project: The postdoc fellow will be in charge of the fabrication of CMOS-OxRAM circuits with superconducting interconnects and the demonstration of in-memory computing in cryogenic conditions.Supported by the expertise of 3IT, 1QBit and IQ in the fields of nanofabrication, neuromorphic engineering and cryogenic electronics, the postdoc fellow will have to (i) fabricate crossbar arrays of TiO2-based memristors on top of CMOS circuits with newly developed superconducting interconnects, (ii) perform the physico-chemical and morphological characterisations of the CMOS-OxRAM circuits to validate their quality, (iii) conduct in-depth electrical characterizations of the CMOS-OxRAM circuits at room and cryogenic temperatures in the Quantum Fab Lab of the IQ of UdeS, (iv) investigate the benefits of using superconducting interconnects with regards to OxRAM switching behavior and programing precision, (v) demonstrate and benchmark accuracy of in-memory computing with an 8×8 OxRAM crossbar array at room and cryogenic temperatures.Researched profile:
