Salary : Estimated range of $70,000 – $90,000. Full‑time and part‑time permanent employees are eligible for an annual bonus plan, leave‑of‑absence top‑up programs, generous vacation time, personal days, premium free benefits, and a pension plan.

Locations : Moncton, NB; Dartmouth, NS.

Job Overview

Under direct supervision, the Business Development Representative will maintain brokerage relationships between Wawanesa and the brokerage network, assist in developing and achieving targeted business goals with contracted brokers, and identify opportunities to grow business with new brokerages and territories within the region.

Job Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between Wawanesa and brokers to ensure communication flow and resolve brokerage concerns.
  • Maintain brokerage relationships, sharing production results, setting and achieving growth and marketing plans based on individual brokerage plans and regional goals, and assessing brokerages’ benefits or risks to regional objectives.
  • Collaborate with functional departments and management teams to realize plans and goals, including training sessions, facilitating meetings with Wawanesa and brokerage staff, implementing underwriting plans, providing market information, and directing claim or underwriting concerns to appropriate channels.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the marketplace, products, brokerages, and competitors.
  • Assess non‑contracted brokerage opportunities and territories to realize growth and production plans.
  • Liaise and coordinate efforts with Marketing and Business Development departments as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant insurance experience, preferably in Property & Casualty.
  • Strong understanding of broker operations, market dynamics, and regional business environments.
  • Post‑secondary education in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred; insurance designation considered an asset.
  • Ability to travel within assigned regions to meet with brokers and support relationship management.
  • Proven ability to analyze data, monitor performance, and provide insights that support strategic decision‑making and broker success.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with solid planning and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong presentation and training abilities, tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative approach supporting team and organizational goals.
