Rate of Pay : $32.41 - $33.04 per hour
General Accountability :
The Occupational Instructor provides task evaluation, skills instruction, job maintenance, and employment planning for clients engaged within the Employment Options Program. Responsibilities include collaborating with the Rehabilitation Officer, and / or referring sources, to meet the clients' short and long term vocational goals and working in conjunction with the Supervisor and members of Team Werks Co-op Inc. to meet the operational and business related goals of the St. Joseph's Care Group's supported Social Enterprise.
Qualifications :
Education / Experience :
- Post secondary education in social services, rehabilitation or related field or five or more years of experience providing employment supports or vocational rehabilitation services
- Working knowledge of current vocational programs and services provided locally and in Northwestern Ontario by federal, provincial, municipal agencies, and private and non profit agencies
- Working knowledge of Principles of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and the Recovery philosophy
- Working knowledge of current theories and principles of vocational rehabilitation for people with serious mental illness
- Sound knowledge of basic business principles and / or experience working in a business environment
- Working knowledge of major mental illnesses, their symptoms, treatment strategies / modalities and effect on social / vocational functioning
- Awareness of psychotropic medication and potential side effects, particularly as they may affect vocational or educational potential
