Reporting to the Chair, Department of Nursing, the Clinical Instructor is responsible for teaching students in Clinical and Lab settings.
We are specifically looking for expertise in Labour & Delivery and Obstetrics, but will consider all applicants with expertise in Nursing.
Duties
As the Clinical Instructor, Department of Nursing, you will :
- Supervise students in lab and clinical settings;
- Collaborate with Nursing Lab staff and course professor to plan and organize lab activities for clinical group;
- Facilitate the development and implementation of student learning plans in partnership with students;
- Evaluate student progress during the practicum placement in collaboration with the student and course professor;
- Complete regular, comprehensive anecdotal notes regarding student progress and advises course professor immediately of serious or ongoing student concerns;
- Mark all assignments designated as the responsibility of the Clinical Instructor in the syllabus of the assigned course;
- Facilitate student meetings (, post-clinical conference) and makes arrangements for appropriate resources (, multi-media).
Qualifications
Successful completion of a BScN; Master’s degree preferred;Minimum of 3 years of clinical work experience in a variety of settings (, medical-surgical, maternal child, mental health);Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario;Ability to address concerns and manage difficult situations, and to identify and act upon emergency situations;Effective organizational, time management and communication skills;Adheres to confidentiality and privacy standards and legislation;Additional Details
