Syntax Strategic is growing, and we're looking for a senior communications leader who knows how to shape narratives, manage complex files, and coach leaders when the stakes are high.

This is a director-level role for someone who has lived inside newsrooms, understands media dynamics instinctively, and can guide clients through moments that matter - from big announcements to high-pressure issues.

What you'll do

• Lead integrated communications and media relations strategies for high-profile clients
• Serve as a senior advisor to executives, CEOs, and public-facing leaders
• Deliver media training and spokesperson coaching (boardroom to broadcast)
• Build and maintain strong relationships with national and regional media
• Manage issues, crises, and reputational files with calm and clarity
• Oversee account teams and ensure excellence in client service and delivery
• Contribute to business development, proposals, and strategic growth

What you bring

• 6-8+ years of experience in communications, media relations, or journalism
• Deep media experience (former journalist or newsroom experience is a strong asset)
• Proven media training and spokesperson coaching experience
• Exceptional writing, editing, and strategic thinking skills
• Strong client management instincts: confident, trusted, unflappable
• Experience in defence, security, or highly regulated sectors is a strong asset
• Sound judgment, curiosity, and the ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels
