Occupational Hygiene (Hazardous Materials Technician)

Today is the day to boost your career! Pinchin is seeking an Occupational Hygiene (Hazardous Materials Technician) to join our Hazardous Materials team in our Mississauga or Toronto offices.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Occupational Hygiene (Hazardous Materials Technician) will conduct effective worker exposure and workplace monitoring, safety inspections and audits. You will assist in developing various types of hygiene, health, and safety documentation, prepare technical reports and liaise with clients to ensure their needs and goals are met. Pinchin staff as part of the Mississauga and Toronto teamwork at a number of residential, commercial, and industrial client sites in the GTA.
A Day in the Life of a Occupational Hygiene (Hazardous Materials Technician) at Pinchin :
- Complete assessments for hazardous materials, designated substances, and workplace exposures
- Conduct interviews with clients regarding building history and site-specific client concerns
- Perform inspections and evaluate building systems and materials
- Use various types of equipment to record measurements and collect various samples
- Identify and sample suspect asbestos, lead, and PCB-containing materials
- Prepare detailed reports documenting findings and providing recommendations to address hazardous materials concerns
- Inspect abatement and restoration contractors undertaking asbestos and other hazardous materials abatement work to document that the work has been properly completed
- Collect and analyze Phase Contract Microscope (PCM) asbestos air samples
- Business development to existing clients
- Maintain and enhance quality control within the group
What you bring to the Pinchin team :
College diploma in Occupational Health and Safety related, Construction or Architectural Technology, or Bachelor of Science or Engineering or equivalent / related post-secondary experienceEntry level to five years of experiencePrevious Hazardous Materials experience considered an assetC.E.T. or related designations will be considered an assetKnowledge of environmental and health and safety legislation / guidelinesFamiliarity with building systems (structure, envelope, HVAC, electrical, plumbing etc.)Experience reading and interpreting architectural drawingsStrong communication and organizational skills with an ability to follow detailed instructionsExcellent technical report writing skillsProficient with Microsoft Office ProductsAvailability to work outside our core business hours and rotational weekends, when requiredVehicle, valid driver’s license, and insurance as travel around the designated region is requiredEmployees may be required by our clients to undergo security clearances and / or drug and alcohol testing to gain access to certain job sitesWhat Pinchin offers you
