The Park Stewardship Programs team coordinates a number of programs that support environmental awareness, beautification and parkland operations. These positions will assist the Park Program Leads in program and event coordination, and the recruitment, training and supervision of volunteers / staff across various programs (Benchmark, Bloomin’ Boulevards, and Invasive Plant Outreach).
What will you do?
- Assist the Program Leads with planning, program coordination, volunteer management, program evaluation, and event coordination for park stewardship and beautification programs
- Implement programs and initiatives based on work plans and budget
- Assist with the development and distribution of marketing and communications resources according to the Communications and Engagement Plan
- Support the development and delivery of training and educational opportunities, including presentations, workshops and information-sharing
- Research and compose content for educational programs, websites, newsletters, social media and promotional materials
- Respond to customer, donor, and partner inquiries
- Supervise seasonal staff, delegate work, and monitor task completion
- Complete mapping of program sites using ArcGIS and / or Google MyMaps
- Complete hazard assessments, perform inspections and site visits and other safety related tasks to allow programs to meet provincial OHS standards. Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining safety training materials for programs and support the delivery of safety and program-related training
- Complete visits and resource deliveries to program sites
- Procure program supplies
- Assist with public engagement for park projects
- Provide status reports on program deliverables and activities
- Manage program files, ensuring accurate documentation and organization
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
Degree or diploma in environmental sciences / studies, forestry, agriculture, horticulture, botany, biological sciences, recreation, education, leisure, communications, business, or a related fieldA minimum of 1 year experience in program coordination and deliveryA minimum of 1 year in a supervisory role, including coaching, scheduling, recruitment and training of staffValid First Aid and CPR Level C or the ability to obtainAssets
Experience using mapping software, particularly ArcGISExperience working with various community and partner groupsKnowledge of gardening, native, invasive or ornamental plantsCompetent computer skills, including knowledge of Google ApplicationsSkills required for success

Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this positionMust arrange own transportation to be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton policy which may require business auto insuranceHire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position.
