Job description

Primary Scope of Role :

  • Field inspection and testing of asphalt, aggregates and soil
  • Field testing to include sampling, coring and compaction of various materials.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of testing activities.
  • Assist in proper care, control and maintenance of testing equipment, including timely calibrations of assigned equipment.
  • Follow all company and regulatory safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist when required with Geotechnical inspections and investigations.
  • Complete reports and checklists as per company policies or contract requirements and advise supervisors of any non – conformances and deviations.
  • Assist with Laboratory testing of materials when required.
  • Perform other duties as instructed.

Position Requirements :

  • Post secondary education in a 2- or 3- year college program such as civil / construction engineering technology or equivalent program is an asset but not required.
  • Prior Construction project or material testing experience is an asset but not required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and must be able to effectively communicate with the managers, engineers, supervisors and other team members.
  • Able to use and maintain hand and power tools
  • Must have a valid G driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
  • Able to perform heavy lifting >
  • 25 kg.

  • Must be able to travel and work on remote projects throughout Ontario.
  • Must be available to workdays, nights and weekend as needed.
  • Must be able to work long shifts and extended hours, overtime as necessary
