Giatec Scientific Inc. (Giatec) is seeking an Assistant Controller to join our team and play a pivotal role in supporting our Finance & Operations team. This position offers a unique opportunity for individuals looking to oversee the daytoday accounting activities at Giatec.

Reporting to the Controller the successful candidate is a collaborative analytical and nimble finance professional that thrives working in a fastpaced entrepreneurial environment. They have a strong technical background in fullcycle and multientity accounting that is backed by a strong understanding of the nuances of finance and accounting. This person is a selfstarter who possesses excellent communication skills is extremely organized detailoriented and has a positive attitude. This is a handson role that will require agility and determination to effectively manage the challenges that come with working in a highgrowth organization.

WHAT WILL YOU DO :

  • Manage the daytoday accounting operations including invoicing A / R A / P general ledger inventory etc.
  • Perform monthly financial close and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
  • Assist in preparing monthly quarterly and adhoc financial reporting including financial reports for lenders funding sources.
  • Manage payroll process in collaboration with Human Resources including calculation of commissions.
  • Provide support in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and adequate internal controls are in place.
  • Enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets policies procedures and workflow.

    • WHAT DO YOU BRING TO THE ROLE :

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in Accounting Finance or related field.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) required.
  • Minimum of 3 years proven experience in Accounting function.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards (ASPE and / or IFRS).
  • Solid technical accounting skills and experience with various accounting software NetSuite is a plus.
  • Ability to quickly understand systems and data to make datainformed decisions.
  • Strong people management skills with the ability to coach and mentor more junior staff.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work in high paced environment where priorities change quickly.
  • Detail oriented and possess excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
