The Role :
We have an exciting role in our Mississauga Distribution Center for an experienced and dynamic Continuous Improvement Specialist to join our team for an 18-month Contract . In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing continuous improvement initiatives with a primary focus in Distribution & warehousing Operations and a secondary inclusion of other functions with the imperative to improve cost competitiveness, sustaining the cost reduction through project pipeline replenishment. You will provide best in class distribution & warehousing process knowledge with a solid understanding of Warehouse Management Systems to support process improvement activities, fit-gap analysis and system enhancements. In addition, you will work closely with the Plant CI specialists / managers and other teams to streamline end to end product flow.
What you get to do :
- Support the Operational Excellence Roadmap by creating and leading the DC Continuous Improvement Program.
- Lead the development of the Continuous Improvement Program and Roadmap as part of the strategic planning for the site in conjunction with the enterprise.
- Champion the penetration of lean methodologies and tools to promote the extraction of dollars-in-play.
- Work directly with the Distribution Manager and their teams to plan, set in motion and execute specific CI projects.
- Provide technical CI expertise to support process improvement activities.
- Align CI initiatives with the site key performance indicators to drive SQCDPE improvement.
- Lead, develop and coordinate value stream mapping activity for the site.
- Work closely with the Distribution team to drive efficiency within the DC operations such as pick, pack, ship, product flow etc
- Align with finance to trace and report financial impact of improvements and cost savings opportunities.
- Propose and implement new methods and processes for existing distribution / warehousing systems i.e.MS WMS / D-365
- Instill a proactive and lean culture from the DC floor through to DC management.
What you bring to the role :
B.S. in Industrial Eng., Mechanical Eng., Operations Research, supply chain, or Engineering Management.5+ years of continuous improvement work experience in warehousing or distribution center.Six Sigma Certification is an asset.Innate ability to fully comprehend new processes and systems quickly, with high attention to detail.Industrial cost control / reporting / analysis experience in high volume manufacturing environments.Demonstrated ability to effectively implement Continuous Improvement resulting in positive change.Outstanding critical thinking and communication skills.Leadership / management experience and / or end-to-end project management experience.Experience with industry-standard problem-solving methodologies (LSS, DMAIC).Experience with any / all of the following : Minitab, Sigma XL, NWA and be able to extract data from SQL database to analyze in SPC software.Excellent communication skills as well as a holistic understanding of manufacturing operations.Advance-level MS Office skills (primarily Excel, Power Point, and Visio).Experienced team trainer.What we offer you :
