Responsibilities
Maintain the grounds surrounding the building, ensuring it is safe and aesthetically pleasingManage and conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections / checksAssists with moving and storage of supplies and equipmentReport on equipment malfunctionsMaintain and make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, electrical systems, etc.Performs other routine maintenance such as painting, drywall repair etc.Contact and follow-up with contractors, technicians, and service representatives utilized by the organization when necessaryAvailable for emergency callsAdditional duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
Minimum of Grade 12 plus experience in building maintenance, such as carpentry, painting, plumbing or electrical.Journeyperson Certificate in a construction trade such as carpentry, electrical, or plumbing OR a Building System Technician certificate from an accredited Community College would be considered assets. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be consideredMust possess a valid class 5 NS driver's license and have a good driving record : willing to obtain a class 4 within 6 months of employment.Demonstrated communication and problem solving skills; as well as the ability to take direction, and make informed decisions in an emergency, as well as on a daily basis.The ability and desire to relate courteously and effectively with residents, contractors, and staffKnowledge of WHMIS and safe storage of chemicals
