Tow Truck Operator

Job Summary

Garden City Towing is looking for a reliable and skilled Tow Truck Operator.  The ideal candidate will respond to roadside incidents, tow disabled or illegally parked vehicles, and providing emergency roadside assistance like jump-starts or tire changes.  This role requires excellent customer service skills, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to operate towing equipment efficiently.

Core duties and responsibilities

• Vehicle towing and recovery :  Safely operate a tow truck to transport disabled, impounded, or improperly parked vehicles.
• Roadside assistance :  Provide emergency services like jump-starting batteries, changing flat tires, or delivering fuel to stranded motorists.
• Vehicle assessment :  Evaluate the situation to determine the best course of action for safely moving a damaged or disabled vehicle.
• Vehicle securing :  Properly and safely secure vehicles to the tow truck using appropriate equipment before transport.
• Inspections and maintenance :  Perform regular pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections of the tow truck and equipment.
• Communication :  Maintain clear communication with dispatchers, other drivers, and customers via radio or phone.
• Documentation :  Complete and maintain required paperwork, such as tow logs, invoices, and mileage records.
• Repairs :  May perform minor emergency repairs on the roadside.
