Job description

MatchBox Consulting Group is looking for an Intermediate Contract Admin in Victoria. Our client is an architectural services consulting firm with over 40 years of experience. They have been a trusted partner for developers and construction professionals, offering top-tier architectural, planning, and interior design services throughout Western Canada. They specialize in retail, residential, mixed-use, commercial, and senior health-care projects.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and review all project documentation, ensuring the accuracy of shop drawings, schedules, samples, and alternate requests.
  • Perform site reviews to ensure work aligns with construction contracts and building codes, track progress, and identify any issues or deviations.
  • Coordinate with contractors, approving authorities, and sub-consultants to document and address field issues, ensuring seamless communication and problem resolution.
  • Create and manage project change documentation, providing supplemental drawings and specifications in response to requests for clarification.
  • Oversee all close-out activities, including deficiency reviews, substantial performance reviews, final occupancy inspections, permit acquisitions, and the receipt of manuals, warranties, and letters of assurance.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a certified Building Technology or Architectural program from a professionally recognized institution.
  • Over 5 years of relevant experience in the Canadian Architectural Industry, with preference given to BC experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in contract administration of construction projects in Canada.
  • Multi-disciplinary experience in multi-family residential and commercial projects, with expertise in wood frame, concrete, and non-combustible construction for both new designs and renovations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building technology, particularly in wood frame and concrete construction, with in-depth knowledge of the BC Building Code Part 3 and ASHRAE 90.1 (understanding of NECB would be an asset).
