As part of its strategic expansion, the organization is seeking a VP Finance to lead its finance function and support operational excellence.Job SummaryThe Vice President, Finance will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial operations, including project accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance. This role will drive financial strategy, optimize systems and processes, and ensure accurate reporting across multiple divisions and regions. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in construction finance, a hands-on approach to leadership, and a commitment to continuous improvement.Key ResponsibilitiesLead financial planning and analysis across all construction projects and corporate operations.Oversee project accounting functions, including job costing, revenue recognition, and WIP (Work-in-Progress) reporting.Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.Develop and maintain robust financial controls and compliance frameworks.Manage full-cycle accounting: AP, AR, payroll, tax filings, and financial audits.Provide strategic financial insights to support executive decision-making and long-term planning.Evaluate and implement ERP systems and financial tools tailored to construction operations (e.g., Jonas, Sage, Viewpoint).Monitor cash flow and working capital, ensuring optimal liquidity and financial health.Build and mentor high-performing finance and purchasing teams across Ontario and BC.Liaise with external stakeholders including banks, auditors, legal counsel, and insurance providers.Approve high-value transactions and ensure alignment with corporate policies and budgets.Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting, operational efficiency, and team performance.Qualifications & SkillsEducation & Credentials:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (required).CPA designation (required).Experience:Minimum 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience.At least 5 years in the construction industry or a related field (e.g., engineering, infrastructure).Proven track record in project accounting and financial management of large-scale construction projects.Technical Skills:Proficiency in construction-specific ERP systems (Jonas, Viewpoint, Sage, etc.).Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.Expertise in cost control, variance analysis, and financial compliance.Leadership & Communication:Exceptional leadership and team-building capabilities.Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with cross-functional teams and external partners.Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and decision-making.Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
