Designated Paralegal

Our client, a law firm specializing in Labour Rights, is looking for an experienced and motivated Designated Paralegal to support their growing practice focused on WorkSafe BC, WCB Claims, WCAT Appeals, Employment Law, and Labour Law. What You'll Do :

As a key member of the team, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing and supporting WorkSafe BC / WCB claims from start to finish. Your responsibilities will include :

  • Preparing and filing legal documents, submissions, and appeals related to WorkSafeBC matters, including prohibitive action complaints.
  • Communicating effectively with WorkSafe BC representatives, medical professionals, and clients to gather crucial information and documentation.
  • Conducting legal research and staying up to date on changes in workers’ compensation law and policy to ensure clients are receiving the best advice possible.
  • Organizing and preparing evidence, including medical records, witness statements, and expert reports, for hearings and legal proceedings.
  • Drafting detailed correspondence, reports, and summaries of legal matters for review.
  • Managing case progress, adhering to deadlines, and ensuring timely and efficient processing of client claims.
  • Helping clients prepare for hearings, appeals, and other legal proceedings.

Who We’re Looking For :

You are an experienced, self-motivated paralegal who excels in a fast-paced environment. You’ll bring :

  • A Paralegal Certificate from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a paralegal role. Experience in private practice is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage files independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Adobe, and other relevant legal software.
  • Ability to draft a variety of tribunal and court documents.
  • A keen eye for detail, with strong proofreading and organizational skills.
  • The ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
  • A positive, team-oriented attitude that values collaboration and excellence.
