We are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Niagara office. This role is a unique opportunity for a technically strong individual who also thrives in project leadership and business development. Our projects are primarily in the energy sector, ranging from large EPCM initiatives to smaller operations support engagements. You will play a key role in driving project success, building client relationships, and growing our business.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping innovative energy and industrial projects while leading a high‑performing electrical engineering team. You’ll bring technical authority, project leadership, and strong client engagement skills to drive excellence from concept through commissioning.

What will you do : Technical Leadership

  • Lead the design of power systems including one line diagrams, layouts, schematics, and detailed drawings for switchgear, control panels, and power distribution centers.
  • Lead and inspire a team of Electrical Engineers, Designers, and CAD professionals to deliver high‑quality designs, on schedule and within budget.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance, mentorship, and rigorous quality assurance for all electrical engineering deliverables.
  • Prepare and review calculations, equipment specifications, detailed design packages, and vendor documentation.
  • Evaluate vendor drawings and data to ensure full compliance with project specifications and standards.
  • Develop conceptual designs, feasibility studies, technical reports, and project proposals.
  • Create detailed supply, construction, and installation specifications.
  • Travel to project sites and other corporate offices as needed for inspections, design coordination, and project support.
  • Select and size major electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, MCCs, and control panels.
  • Develop commissioning plans and supervise or perform testing and commissioning activities.
  • Work with SCADA systems and other plant control systems, including their architecture, operation, and integration.
  • Support Connection Impact Assessments (CIA) and System Impact Assessments (SIA) processes.

Project Management

  • Act as Project Manager or Engineering Lead on selected projects, managing scope, schedule, budget, deliverables, and resources.
  • Coordinate seamlessly with multi‑discipline teams to ensure cohesive project execution.
  • Monitor key project metrics, proactively identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure strong and consistent communication with internal stakeholders and client partners.
  • Business Development

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, identifying new opportunities and fostering long-term engagement.
  • Support proposal development including scope definition, schedule estimates, costing, and client presentations.
  • Contribute to strategic planning for market growth and service expansion.
  • Represent the organization at conferences, industry events, and client meetings to elevate visibility and thought leadership.
  • What you bring to the role :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered in Ontario or another Canadian province.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience, ideally within an EPCM environment supporting industrial or energy-sector projects.
  • Experience in the hydropower industry, particularly with electrical systems in hydroelectric generating stations, would be an asset
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and client-facing roles.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical industry codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Proficiency with electrical design tools such as SPEL, ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, and ASPEN .
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven success working in multi-disciplinary, fast-paced project environments.
  • Strong computer skills, with the ability to adapt quickly to new tools and technologies.
  • Base salary range : $130,000 - $180,000

    Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location.
