Your Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager or designate, the outreach nurse provides interventions in various community settings. Responsibilities include :
- Assessing and providing direct interventions and treatment processes that improve client functioning.
- Conducting risk assessment and crisis intervention on a daily basis.
- Managing long‑term case management for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and / or concurrent disorders.
- Working with clients who have a Community Treatment Order, ensuring the treatment plan meets legislated needs.
- Transitioning to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024.
Description
As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership and wide variety of nursing services to patients to promote, maintain, or restore health and mental health while preventing mental illness, injury, and disability. You will teach, counsel, and advocate for patients and ensure their safety and well‑being. Safe, quality, patient‑ and family‑centered care will reflect shared vision and values.
Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58‑$54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Psychiatric Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii).
Required Qualifications
Completion of an accredited psychiatric nursing education program.Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA).Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS‑HCP) certification.Additional Required Qualifications
Current valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation.Basic Life‑Saving Level C.Clear Criminal Record Check.Training in Suicide and Crisis Intervention (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills – ASIST Certificate or equivalent).Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing, or Master of Nursing.Minimum of five (5) years of experience in mental health.Minimum of two (2) years of community mental health experience.Working knowledge of psychiatric pharmacology.Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.Working knowledge of mental health resources.Employee Details
