The Superintendent will be responsible to ensure that projects are completed on schedule in compliance with the contracts and the job cost estimates and all the work is completed safely to acceptable standards of quality and workmanship. The Superintendent will also be responsible for the management of day to day operations in the yard.
What You’ll Do Here:
- Lead the overall planning and scheduling of projects to ensure delivery is on time, within budget, and in alignment with contractual requirements
- Monitor project progress against schedules and budgets, implementing corrective actions as required to mitigate risks and delays
- Coordinate and oversee all project functions, including administration, scheduling, and construction execution
- Serve as the primary on‑site representative for the Company, maintaining effective relationships with owners and key stakeholders
- Ensure owners are informed of all extra work, change events, and claims, and that subcontractors are notified of applicable back charges
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date contract documentation, including change orders and amendments
- Implement, enforce, and monitor compliance with the Company’s Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality Control programs
- Ensure all site activities comply with applicable legislation, regulations, and municipal requirements
- Provide strong leadership to project staff by directing daily activities, maintaining discipline, and fostering a positive team environment
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and project‑specific requirements
- Ensure compliance with union agreements, where applicable
- Review and approve project cost reports, ensuring job cost forecasts and projected margins are accurate and current
- Support the bid and estimating process, providing constructability input and operational insight
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required
What You Bring to the Team:
- Technical school background and at least 5 years of construction experience
- Experience in the Utility Contracting Industry
- Working computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Sound knowledge of construction techniques, practices, and fundamentals
- Experience with contract and subcontract management
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships and work within a team environment
- Strong organizational and time management
- Maintain valid Ontario (G) driver’s license
- Ability to travel within Ontario as required
Reason for vacancy: New
Pay Range: $130,000-$180,000
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
